    Our wool comes from the flocks of Mărginimea Sibiului, on the hills around Cisnădioara.

    Wool becomes yarn, yarn becomes warp. Every step passes through the hands of someone who knows it well.

    Wool is warm and soft underfoot, springs back after pressure and ages well, with a character no synthetic fibre has.

We are the makers.

We design and weave our rugs in our own workshop in Transylvania.

Since 1992, natural fibres have passed through the hands of our weavers and across traditional looms to become rugs made for everyday life.

Our looms are 50 to 70 years old. Semi-mechanical, manually operated and maintained by people who understand them intimately.

Our core palette is deliberately quiet, allowing texture and material to take centre stage. Additional colours are available for selected designs.

No two are exactly alike.

Every STILCARPET rug is individually woven and finished by hand. Small variations in texture, colour and dimensions are part of its character: traces of the hands and materials that made it.

A rug should belong to the room it was made for.

Our rugs are woven on semi-mechanical looms built 50 to 70 years ago.

The machines provide rhythm. The weaver provides judgement.

Setting the warp, controlling tension, changing yarns and finishing every piece require experience that cannot simply be automated.
